Hotdoggin'

Artist: Greg Freres

Hotdoggin'

Freestyle skiing gained popularity in the 1970's, but aerial acrobatics on skis were performed all the way back to the 1930’s. Canadian Wayne Wong is credited as a pioneer of the style that Hotdoggin’ celebrates. As in their Skateball release, Freres and Bally bank on the crossover appeal of non-traditional sports. Much like pinball, these sports value individual performance and style over traditional team play.

Greg Freres uses a deco-revival motif to frame the action, exercising little restraint in the bubble highlighting. The result is flashy and attention grabbing, precisely capturing the essence of this style of skiing.
